Fine Arts Focus
Learning Through The Arts, or a Fine Arts Focus, has been one of the primary goals of the staff, students, and parents of Annie L. Gaetz School for several years. This goal was first envisioned in 2003 during the second round of The Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI). This fine arts focus provides students with instructional variation that motivates them toward further discovery and learning through the integration and infusion of the Arts with core curriculum concepts.
Annie L. Gaetz School has fostered the use of Art Learning Journals as one of many methods for students to creatively represent their learning for many of the units covered during the year. These journals have also been designated as a special place for children to reflect on significant activities and experiences throughout their school year. Students also participate in the Westerner Fair and Exhibition by entering some of their creative works.
