About Me

I am excited to be back at ALG again this year! This is already my 10th year in- time flies! I love being at Annie L. Gaetz and I am excited to be teaching Grade two this year! What a great place, filled with amazing colleagues and wonderful students and families!

I grew up on a grain and cattle farm near a small town in rural Alberta, called Ryley. All of my family still live there and I visit often. After high school, I left to do some globe-trotting and once I covered many continents, returned to Alberta to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Once my university years had concluded, I set sail on the high seas and worked on cruise ships for a few years, where I fulfilled many travel dreams. Much to my surprise, I also met who I now call my husband. We settled back on land and started into our careers in Calgary and a few years later, re-located to Red Deer. My husband and I currently enjoy living the life of Red Deer with our two year old daughter, Ziya.  In my time away from the classroom, I enjoy camping and road trips in our 1974 VW van, hiking, reading, skiing and interior decorating.

My husband and I are always planning a next trip, which always keeps life exciting, but we are also planning a somewhat permanent trip to one of the Caribbean islands, where we plan to start a Bed & Breakfast and enjoy the lifestyle of the islands. Until that plan is finalized, we continue to explore the Caribbean, to see which one will be the perfect fit for us.
